Learn to Eat Healthy by Using Your iPhone

One of the most comprehensive lists of additives has been put together by software developer Melon Mobile in its new application called E Food Additives. Containing around 595 additives, the application helps iPhone users find out the risks and effects of each of these additives, which might be dangerous for their health. Even though E Food Additives is only a database that features valuable reference information about food additives, this is very useful, as some of these additives are known to cause side-effects such as allergic reactions and even to be carcinogenic and toxic.

Moreover, E Food Additives also helps users in their own dietary requirements based on medical conditions or life choices. Basically, the application will aid users to quickly decide what to buy and eat, and what to avoid. Furthermore, it will also be possible to easily choose between two similar products based on their contents, by using the information provided by the E Food Additives application. For those that are vegetarian, the application will make it easier to avoid animal substances that are vaguely included in some food products.

E Food Additives features a wide range of filters that will enable users to check every additive category (acid, antioxidant, color, emulsifier, flavor enhancer, mineral salt, preservative, stabilizer), which is visible in the additive list and different color ratings that help users clearly distinguish between safe, dangerous and neutral additives (red – dangerous, orange – unsafe, yellow – unknown, green – safe, no side effects). Other features of the application include the ability to change the additive rating (and corresponding color), visual indicators that show the substance origin type – animal, bacteria, chemically manufactured, fish, gas, insect, mineral, plant, synthetic, the ability to search by E food number or by text pattern in the additive name and description, as well as the ability to switch between additive lists sorted by E number (International Numbering System) or additive name.

Unfortunately, E Food Additives doesn’t have a trial version, so you will just have to buy it. The good news is the fact that the application can be bought for only $0.99.
